چکیده

The authors consider antiplane shearing motions of an incompressible visco-plastic solid. The particular constitutive equation employed assumes that the stress tensor has an “elastic” component and a component which can exhibit hysteresis. The model exhibits both “kinematic” and “isotropic” hardening. Our results consist of a set of energy type estimates for the resulting system, L2 contractivity estimates for the solution operator, and finally an analysis of the approach of our system to a “rate independent” model as a distinguished parameter describing our flow rule approaches zero. We also include some computational results for simple piecewise constant data. On the numerical algorithm for isotropic–kinematic hardening with the Armstrong–Frederick evolution of the back stress

The algorithmic consistency conditions are derived which yield the plastic loading index for the combined isotropic– kinematic hardening plasticity with the Armstrong–Frederick evolution equation for the back stress. Rate-independent elastic–plastic, and rate-dependent viscoelastic–plastic and elastic–viscoplastic material models are all encompassed by the analysis. The directions of the plasti...

A Damage Mechanics-Based Fatigue Life Prediction Model for Solder Joints

A thermomechanical fatigue life prediction model based on the theory of damage mechanics is presented. The damage evolution, corresponding to the material degradation under cyclic thermomechanical loading, is quantified thermodynamic framework. The damage, as an internal state variable, is coupled with unified viscoplastic constitutive model to characterize the response of solder alloys. The da...

Cyclic Behavior of Beams Based on the Chaboche Unified Viscoplastic Model

In this paper, ratcheting behavior of beams subjected to mechanical cyclic loads at elevated temperature, using the rate dependent Chaboche unified viscoplastic model with combined kinematic and isotropic hardening theory of plasticity, is investigated. A precise and general numerical scheme, using the incremental method of solution, is developed to obtain the cyclic inelastic creep and plastic...

U-Bending Analysis with an Emphasis on Influence of Hardening Models

In this paper the effect of different hardening models in simulating the U-bending process for AA5754-O and DP-Steel, taking a benchmark of NUMISHEET 93 2-D draw bending, has been discussed. The hardening models considered in simulations are: isotropic hardening, pure (linear) kinematic hardening and combined (nonlinear kinematic) hardening. The influence of hardening models on predicting sprin...

Strain-rate effects in rheological models of inelastic response

Stress–strain response under constant and variable strain-rate is studied for selected models of inelastic behavior. The derived closed-form solutions for uniaxial loading enable simple evaluation of the strain-rate effects on the material response. The effect of an abrupt change of strain-rate is also examined. Non-Newtonian viscosity which decreases with an increasing strain-rate is incorpora...
